Sat between Italy, Austria and Croatia, the small nation of Slovenia is a beautiful country. From Alpine mountains, through green valleys and picturesque farmland to engaging towns and cities, it feels unspoilt.
As part of an international work experience programme I was lucky enough to spend the whole of' the summer of 2008 in the country - working, travelling and experiencing a special place.

Ljubljana, the capital, is a small city with a human-scale centre. It is endlessly walkable and enjoyable, with interest on every street.

Out of the city, the country's landscape offers bountiful variety. Lakes and mountains provide places to escape.
Lake Bohinj, Slovenia's largest lake, became a favourite of mine. Perfectly matched mountains, water and valleys create an especially pure place.

Ljubljana
Photography was a wonderful joy over the summer. Everything was shot on film, allowing me to re-experience moments as I developed over the weeks after my return.
Ljubljana gathers in Presernov Trg, the main square, to meet, to celebrate, to watch. I spent many happy moments there.
It was hard to leave Slovenia.
